Type 31 Frigates: Repairs and Maintenance

Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, for what duration will a Type 31 Frigate be unavailable for operations while the Mk41 VLS retrofit is performed.
This question was answered on 14th July 2026
Details of any future T31 maintenance or upgrade periods, including the duration of Mk41 installation activity, remain subject to options analysis, programme approval and delivery planning and have not yet been finalised. Any such work would be scheduled to balance capability delivery with broader Royal Navy operational requirements.
