We are clear that all police force across England and Wales should engage and work with all of their local communities, including Gypsy and Roma Traveller Groups. However, issues relating to how engagement is undertaken with those communities is a matter for operationally independent Chief Constables of each police force to consider. They are best placed to make decisions on how best to engage with and meet the needs of those communities, based on their local knowledge and expertise.
