In the Victims Strategy, published on 10 September, we committed to bring forward proposals for a consultation on the detail of a Victims’ Law. As I said in this House, when announcing the publication of the Victims Strategy, we plan to consult in 2019. In taking this work forward we have already begun discussions with victims and victims groups.

In undertaking a consultation we will follow Government guidance, which states that consultations should last for a proportionate amount of time for effective engagement. We will announce the length of time the consultation will be open when it is launched.
