Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the total number of senior responsible owners (SROs) is in his Department; and how many of those SROs are responsible for a project not in the Government Major Projects Portfolio.

Defence has 41 individuals acting as Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP) Senior Responsible Owners. The appointment of Senior Responsible Owners for non-GMPP projects is delegated to Front Line Commands and Enabling Organisations. The position changes frequently as projects are initiated and closed, and a central list is not maintained. As at 11 April 2023 Front Line Commands and Enabling Organisations have reported that they have 114 formally appointed non-GMPP Senior Responsible Owners.
