Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, if he will detail what accommodation has been available for trainees at (a) MOD Grantown-on-Spey, (b) MOD Llanwrst, (c) MOD Fairbourne and (d) MOD Crickhowell in each of the last 10 years; whether external bed and breakfast accommodation is used for trainees at any of those centres; and if he will make a statement.

This question was answered on 2nd December 2015

The military bed space capacity at each of the centres is as follows:

Training Centre

Bed Spaces

Force Development Training Centre (FDTC) Crickhowell

260

FDTC Fairbourne

60

FDTC Grantown-on-Spey

40

Joint School for Adventurous Training Instructors (JSATI) Llanwrst

40

On occasions, for example when Ministry of Defence accommodation is at full capacity a local bed and breakfast would be used. Records dating back 10 years are not available. However during financial year 2014-15 bed and breakfast accommodation has been utilised as follows:

FDTC Fairbourne (18 nights’ accommodation) and as at December 2016 for financial year 2015-16: FDTC Grantown (64 nights’ accommodation).
