Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, if he will take steps to encourage the Health and Care Professions Council to evaluate the effect of its recent increase in mandatory registration fees.
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is a self-financing, independent regulator that is accountable to Parliament through the Professional Standards Authority whose role is to assess the HCPC’s performance, conduct audits, scrutinise their decisions and report to Parliament.
In determining the level of fee increase the HCPC undertook a public consultation and considered the responses before setting the fee.
It is for the council of the HCPC to determine what evaluation it commissions on its recent increase in mandatory registration fees.
