Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what information his Department holds on the number of planning applications for new homes that comply with (a) Category 2 and (b) Category 3 of volume 1 of Part M of the Building Regulations.

The Building Act 1984 allows, but does not require, a local planning authority to impose building regulations requirements M4(2) or M4(3) of Schedule 1 to the Building Regulations 2010 on dwellings to be erected. However, this Department holds no records of the number of new dwellings where these requirements have been imposed.
