Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the Intellectual Property Office in helping to keep new drug prices at affordable levels; and if he will make a statement.

This Government is committed to ensuring patients have access to the medicines they need and that they are cost-effective and affordable to the NHS.

The Intellectual Property Office has no role in the negotiating and setting of drug prices which is the responsibility of the Department for Health and Social Care.
