Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what estimate he has made of the number of dentists who have left the profession since 2013.

The General Dental Council (GDC) publishes annual registration reports on the dentist register, including information on removals. People are removed from the register for a variety of reasons, with the most common being voluntary removal, retirement and non-renewal. According to GDC data, 5,554 dentists were removed from the register between 2019 and 2022. Published data is not held for between 2013 and 2018.
