Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, if he will estimate the total number of ministerial replies from his Department to hon. Members in a parliamentary session; and what proportion of such replies are sent (a) by letter and (b) by email.

In the last Parliamentary session (2013-14) the number of replies to members of parliament stood at 5,860. As a rule the Department sends all responses by e-mail unless specifically requested otherwise by the Member of Parliament. We do not keep separate records of how many were sent by post compared to e-mail.
