Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many people were found guilty in a magistrates' court, consequent upon non-payment or contesting of a fixed penalty notice for failure to comply with a street litter clearing notice, in each local authority area in each of the last three years; and what the total value was of fines levied for such offences in each area in each such year.

Information held centrally by the Ministry of Justice on the Court Proceedings Database does not include the circumstances behind each case beyond the description provided in the statute. It is not possible to separately identify from this centrally held information whether a Fixed Penalty Notice was contested or whether it was not paid and proceedings for non payment commenced.
