Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether his consultation on extending permitted development rights will take account of his recent commitment to improve design standards; and if he will make a statement.

New development should demonstrate high quality design, reflecting the character of the local area. Our consultation, “Planning Reform: supporting the high street and increasing the delivery of new homes,” invites views on how the use of local design codes could help to improve the design quality of upward extensions to existing premises to create new homes.
