The Government has prioritised civil legal aid for the most important cases, including those involving wardship.

Under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, civil legal aid is available (subject to means and merits tests) for matters where the High Court exercises its inherent jurisdiction in relation to children and vulnerable adults.
