Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 11 January 2019 to Question 206212, what steps he is planning to take to prevent adverse effects on design from any expansion of permitted development to cover demolition and rebuilding.
Our recent consultation, “Planning Reform: Supporting the high street and increasing the delivery of new homes” sought views on the feasibility of a permitted development right to allow for the demolition of commercial buildings and replacement build as residential, while securing high quality development consistent with national policy. We are currently considering all the responses received to the consultation. Decisions will be taken in due course on how the proposals will be take forward.
