Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, when the first Libyan armed forces personnel began their basic infantry training at Bassingbourn Barracks; what facilities Libyan armed forces personnel have visited in the UK as part of their training; how many such soldiers have completed the training; and how many soldiers are to be so trained in total.
Training of the Libyan General Purpose Force commenced at Bassingbourn Barracks on 11 June 2014. As part of their training programme, they visited the following facilities: Stanford Training Area, Salisbury Plain Training Area, Longmoor Training Area, Lydd Ranges, Sennybridge Training Area, Barton Road Ranges,and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The training programme has now been concluded; 228 Libyans completed it.
