To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, pursuant to the Annual Energy Statement of 6 November 2014, Official Report, column 982, what assessment his Department has made of the effect of Ofgem's retail market reforms on the (a) comprehensibility of energy bills and (b) levels of competition in the energy market.

In July, Ofgem published its framework for evaluating the retail market reforms and will be reporting annually on the progress of competition in the retail markets, including the impact of the retail market reforms. A full review of the package of reforms is planned for 2017.

The Competition and Markets Authority will be assessing levels of competition in the retail energy markets as part of their Market Investigation into the energy markets.
