Action Fraud is the UK’s national reporting point for fraud and financially-motivated cyber crime. The Office for National Statistics publishes quarterly data on the number of fraud offences recorded by Action Fraud. This
includes a breakdown by the type of fraud, some of which have a clear online element.

Action Fraud are looking at developing ways to better identify the subset of fraud offences that involve an online element. However, given the complex nature of some fraud cases this is difficult.

The Office for National Statistics are also working to improve the measurement of fraud and cyber crime in the crime survey for England and Wales.
