Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how much was spent on (a) housing benefit and (b) publicly-funded new homes in each year from 2010.

Housing benefit expenditure is publically available as part of the Benefit Expenditure and Caseload tables 2014 and is available at the following link:

Almost 217,000 affordable homes have been delivered in England since April 2010.

The Affordable Homes Programme is on track to deliver 170,000 new affordable homes between 2011 and 2015, with £19.5 billion of public and private funding.
