Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what the highest number of convictions for shoplifting is that a person has received before being given a custodial sentence .
This question was answered on 19th February 2019
In the year ending June 2018, the highest number of previous convictions for shoplifting an offender given a custodial sentence for shoplifting had was 28.
A custodial sentence includes both immediate custody and suspended sentence orders.
