Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many of his Department's Tornado jets (a) are in service, (b) are in the forward fleet and (c) have the Honeywell Traffic Collision Avoidance System II installed.

The number of Tornado aircraft in the in-service and forward fleets is given below, together with the number of Tornado aircraft fitted with the Honeywell Traffic Collision Avoidance System II (TCAS).

The TCAS capability embodied to date incorporates a Traffic Advisory capability which warns aircrew of a potential collision threat.
