Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, pursuant to the Answer of 27 June 2017 to Question 343, on armed forces: discrimination, to what degree sentences differ from the average when a victim of crime is a member of the armed forces and was abused or discriminated against because of their service.
The Courts can consider as an aggravating factor in sentencing the fact that an offence was committed against or directed at a member of the armed forces.
It is not possible to say to what degree sentences differ as there is no central recording of whether the victim of an offence is a member of the armed forces.
