Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the Answer of 24 February 2015 to Question 224081, how many people have been assisted by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in pursuing national minimum wage recovery through the civil courts on their behalf; and what the value was of wages recovered through the civil courts where HMRC has so pursued recovery in each year from 2005.

The Government takes the enforcement of National Minimum Wage (NMW) very seriously. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) enforce NMW legislation on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and has done so since the introduction of NMW in April 1999.

HMRC do not keep data on action taken through the civil courts in a format that would enable provision of the statistics requested.
