Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many children are living with autism in (a) Sheffield, Brightside and Hillsborough constituency, (b) Sheffield and (c) England.
Data is not held centrally on the number of autistic children in Sheffield, Brightside and Hillsborough constituency and in Sheffield.
The ‘Mental Health of Children and Young People in England, Autism spectrum, eating and other less common disorders topic report 2017’ presents the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders, eating disorders, and other less common disorders in five to 19 year olds in England. Autism Spectrum Disorder was identified in 1.2% of five to 19 year olds. The prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder in five to 15 year olds remained stable between 2004 (1.0%) and 2017 (1.3%).
