There is a multi-layered approach to transport security in Great Britain to ensure that appropriate and proportionate measures are taken to protect the public.

The Secretary of State for Transport keeps the security of the transport system under regular review in light of the assessed threat to different transport modes, working in close partnership with the police and industry operators.
