Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how many square kilometres of countryside were covered by access arrangements and available to the public before the introduction of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.

The total area covered by access agreements in England before the introduction of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 was 4,890 square kilometres.
