Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many social workers have been employed in the adult social care sector in the last five years.

Skills for Care collect data on the adult social care workforce.

Workforce estimates are derived from the National Minimum Data Set for Social Care and are based on a combination of the Independent sector and local authority information.

The information for years 2012/13 to 2015/16 is shown in the following table. Comparable, full figures for 2016/17 will be published on 19 July 2017.
