Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate he has made of the (a) amount of funding for and (b) timeframe for funds to be allocated to the upgrade of the A1 following the cancellation of Phase 2 of the HS2 project.

We will deliver dualling on the A1 between Morpeth to Ellingham. The Department is working through delivery schedules and phasing of spend with delivery partners and within the Government’s overall fiscal plan. All Network North schemes will be subject to approval of business cases. We will share further details in due course
