Probation: Disciplinary Proceedings

Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many cases of alleged (a) misconduct and (b) gross misconduct by probation officers that led to proceedings following an investigation lasting more than 12 months were (i) not proven, (ii) resolved by management advice being issued, (iii) concluded with a written warning and (iv) concluded with dismissal in each of the last three years.

There were fewer than three Conduct and Discipline cases of misconduct/gross misconduct by band 4 probation officers which lasted longer than 12 months, in each of the last three years.

Due to the low numbers involved, details on the outcome of the cases cannot be provided. This is to prevent disclosure in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 1998.
