Question to the Ministry of Justice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what recent assessment he has made of change in the level of the rate of prosecution for rape.
We recognise that the decline in the number of rape and serious sexual offences being charged and prosecuted in England and Wales is a cause for concern and we are determined to do everything we can to ensure these appalling crimes are tackled effectively. As a result of concerning outcomes for complainants, the National Criminal Justice Board has commissioned a Review into the criminal justice response to adult rape and serious sexual offences.
