Israel: Sanctions

Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, if he will make an assessment of the effectiveness of placing sanctions on (a) Pearson Engineering Limited and( b) other UK-based companies that are (i) owned and (ii) partially controlled by the Israeli ministry of finance.

The Government does not comment on individual companies or speculate on potential designations. When developing any sanctions we consult with a range of key stakeholders, including international partners, other government departments, and enforcement agencies to ensure maximum effectiveness.

As the Foreign Secretary said in his statement on 8 September, new measures will be carefully designed to target trade with illegal settlements or those aiding and abetting their expansion and protect legitimate trade between the UK and Israel.
