We recently announced that fraud will be in scope of the Online Safety Bill. This means that companies will have to take action to tackle fraud, where it is facilitated through user-generated content.

We expect this to have an impact on some financial scams, such as fraudulent user-generated posts on social media, and on dating app scams or “romance fraud”. Romance fraud (as seen on dating apps) is estimated to cost £60m a year and can have a devastating psychological impact on victims.
