Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what proportion of funding under the Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund provided to projects benefiting China has been matched by financial or in-kind contributions from (a) the Chinese Government and (b) other Chinese institutions.

Since the Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund was established in 2014, 13 of the 187 projects funded have included activities in China totalling an estimated £1.89m. These projects have been associated with financial or in-kind contributions of approximately £18,000 from the Chinese Government and £38,000 from other Chinese institutions.
