Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many Stalking Protection Orders have been (a) applied for and (b) granted in (i) Bedfordshire, (ii) Cambridgeshire and (iii) Hertfordshire in each of the last three years.

Stalking Protection Orders were introduced in January 2020. The Government is strengthening the use of Stalking Protection Orders (SPOs) by enabling courts to impose them on both conviction and acquittal of their own volition.

The total number of SPO applications received and SPOs issued in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire in each of the last three years can be found in the table below.

2. The data is based upon a distinct count of cases where the case receipt date falls between the reporting period 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2026, where the result code SPO - Stalking Protection Order was issued. Although care is taken when processing and analysing the data, the details are subject to inaccuracies inherent in any large-scale case management system and is the best data that is available.
