Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what estimate his Department had made of the cost to the public purse of ineffective trials in each of the last five years.

We do not hold this data, on the basis that we do not record and therefore cannot isolate costs in relation to ineffective trials, and in the event of an ineffective trial we would stand up alternative trials where possible.
