To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what assessment has been made of the Mandatory Reconsideration Clearance Time for Personal Independence Payment new claims.

Mandatory Reconsideration is a critical element of our decision-making process that helps us achieve the aim of making the right decision as early as possible. It offers claimants an opportunity to challenge decisions and provide any additional information which may be relevant to their claim, without the need to appeal. There are no set clearance times for Mandatory Reconsiderations, rather the focus is on making the correct decision in line with legislation and supported by evidence.
