The Department’s annual bus survey collects data from local bus operators on the number of buses used as Public Service Vehicles, available at https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/463857/bus0602.xls.

The Department also publishes vehicle registration statistics for the UK, based on information available through the registration process with the DVLA, available at https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/vehicles-statistics.

These include tables on the numbers of licensed buses and coaches disaggregated by make and by various other vehicle characteristics, available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/vehicles-statistical-tables-index.
