Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many applicants for junior doctor places were (a) unsuccessful in gaining a place on a course and (b) placed on a waiting list before being subsequently unsuccessful in gaining a place on a course in 2022.
This question was answered on 1st November 2022
All United Kingdom applicants to foundation training were successful in gaining a place in 2022. There were 2,585 junior doctors placed on a specialty training waiting list who were subsequently unsuccessful in gaining a place on a course in 2022.
