Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what plans his Department has to reduce the number of regular armoured regiments that operate the Challenger 2 main battle tank; and if he will make a statement.
The Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank remains a key capability for the British Army in the Government's Strategic Defence and Security Review 2015 and Joint Force 2025 plans. Work is under way, including in relation to the delivery of Challenger 2 capability, to ensure that the Army has the optimum force structure to introduce new capabilities such as the Strike Brigades and a war-fighting division whilst continuing to meet its current and future commitments. At this time no decisions have been reached.
