As locally led plans, it is vital that engagement with local government is driven by Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) themselves. We expect that different STPs will engage with local authorities in different ways, depending on what is appropriate for their area. The successful delivery of STPs will also require a close partnership between the National Health Service and local government.

A number of STPs are led by local government leaders including Norfolk and Waveney; Nottinghamshire; Manchester; and, Birmingham and Solihull.

National bodies, including NHS England and NHS Improvement, have also been working alongside the Local Government Association.
