Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what his Department's policy is on the availability of the Help to Buy scheme for service personnel.

The Ministry of Defence launched the Forces Help to Buy Scheme (FHTB) as a pilot in April 2014. The FHTB has already successfully helped 9,000 Service personnel to join or stay on the property ladder and has recently been extended to 2018, which will enable even more of our people access to the stability that comes through home ownership.

The FHTB is available to all Regular personnel who meet their Service's criteria, such as having more than six months left to serve at the time they apply and meeting the minimal medical standards.
