Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether it remains the Government's policy to restrict army applicants aged under 16 years and six months from enlisting for frontline combat and driving roles.
I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave her on 6 June 2016 to Question 38553. The Army does not define roles as frontline or non-frontline. All soldiers, regardless of capbadge, are trained for a wide range of operational tasks and environments, including combat. Established procedures are in place to ensure that Service personnel under the age of 18 are not deployed on operations.
