Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment the Government has made of the health effects of removing covid-19 contract tracing for schools.
No specific assessment has been made.
As of 19 July 2021, schools are no longer required to conduct contact tracing. As with positive cases in other settings, NHS Test and Trace now identify the close contacts of that individual. Schools may be contacted by local teams in exceptional cases to assist with identifying close contacts, as with managing other infectious diseases.
