Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to Prison Service Pay Review Body 2021 report on England and Wales, published on 19 October 2021, what plans he has to increase pay in the Band 3 Prison Officer scale to ensure that it is competitive with (a) comparator occupations and (b) median earnings in all regions of England and Wales.

I have noted the findings of the Prison Service Pay Review Body (PSPRB) report for 2021/22 pay, including those in relation to Band 3 Prison Officer pay.

Our future pay strategy, including proposals for any pay increases across grades, will be set out in future submissions to the PSPRB in accordance with the pay round process.
