Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, if he will undertake research into public confidence in the power of veto held by the Lord Chief Justice on the Lord Chancellor's power to remove circuit and district judges and the potential for conflict of interest to arise.

The rules and regulations governing judicial discipline (including removal from office) were subject to formal review and public consultation in 2012. There are no plans to undertake further research.
