As of January 2022, there were a total of 1,451 state-funded nursery, primary and secondary schools with a special educational needs (SEN) unit and/or resource provision. Of those schools, 433 report their type of SEN provision as ‘Speech, Language and Communication’ (118 with SEN units, 297 with resource provision and 18 with both).
