The amount of compensation paid to Armed Forces personnel as a result of road traffic accidents in each of the last five calendar years is as follows:

2012

£1,373,064

2013

£1,731,330

2014

£530,732

2015

£4,707,070

2016

£1,301,073

The figures relate to common law claims brought by Armed Forces personnel against their employer, the Ministry of Defence (MOD). An example might be a soldier injured when travelling as a passenger in a MOD vehicle which is involved in an accident.
