Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to his announcement of 22 March 2021 on the reduction of the full-time army personnel to 72,500 by 2025, what methodology was used to calculate that number; and who carried out that calculation.

Calculations regarding the size of the Army were considered in the overall context of the Integrated Review and were carried out jointly by MOD Head Office and the Army. The size, or shape, or mix will constantly evolve as we modernise and adapt to get and stay ahead of the threat.
