Registration of Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships

Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if he will enable next of kin to register births by telephone during the covid-19 outbreak.

In England and Wales, the relevant legislation does not allow births to be registered solely by telephone.? However, it is now possible to collect the details required for the registration by telephone, prior to attendance in person to sign the register.
