Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what recent estimate she has made of how much has been allocated from the public purse on average to local authorities for each early years place for a two-year-old eligible for a free early education place.

In 2016-17, the national average funding rate that local authorities receive from central government for delivering the two-year-old entitlement is £5.09 per hour per child. From April 2017, the national average funding rate will increase to £5.39 per hour.
