Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to Written Statement HLWS366, on Strategic Defence and Security Review - Army, whether the operations and activities of the Army's new Specialised Infantry Battalions will be subject to parliamentary scrutiny and the War Powers Convention (a) in general and (b) when those battalions are operating alongside Special Forces.

Normal policy and procedures for regular Army units will apply to Specialised Infantry Battalions. Members of regular units are only subject to the same disclosure policy as the Special Forces when they fall under the operational command of the Director of Special Forces.
